Summary edit

Description
English: Building at 4336 University Way, Seattle. A single story cottage was built on this lot in about 1903 and was the home of Edward L. Gomoll (a manufacturer of commercial display cases) and his family, until 1907 when it was purchased by carpenter Fred A. Rood. In February 1910 Rood filed a permit construct the mildly colonial styled building currently facing the Ave, attached to the original cottage which still stands and can be seen from the alley. While the architect was never named in contemporary accounts, it was possibly designed by Spalding and Umbrecht, who had been commissioned by Rood a year earlier to design an apartment building across the street (that no longer stands) with identical architectural features.
