ARGONNE'S REFORMER RELEASES HYDROGEN FROM COMMONLY AVAILABLE FUELS TO POWER AUTOMOTIVE FUEL CELLS. FUEL CELLS COMBINE HYDROGEN AND OXYGEN TO PRODUCE ELECTRICITY AND WATER, A MUCH CLEANER SYSTEM COMPARED TO COMBUSTION ENGINES. COMMERCIAL USE OF FUEL CELLS WILL BE ONE OF THE NATION'S FIRST STEPS TOWARD A HYDROGEN ECONOMY. DOE'S FREEDOMCAR PROGRAM CALLS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF HYDROGEN FUEL CELL POWERED CARS.
