Description

The Australian War Memorial text reads "Gallipoli, Turkey. 1915. An AIF artillery 5 inch howitzer on North Beach".


Comment : The 5 inch howitzer was used by British Territorial Force artillery batteries, but not by the AIF, who used the 4.5 inch howitzer. This may be a British 5 inch howitzer deployed in support of Australian troops.
