Accession: 67-382-I Bell, Ship, USS STAFF Brass Accession: 67-382-I Bell,Ship, USS STAFF AM-114 Brass Curator Branch has a large bell collection. We are currently working on a project to re-visit all of our artifacts and photograph, clean and rehouse the objects when needed. This particular bell is from the USS STAFF AM-114, a mine sweeper. The ship commissioned in June 1942 and saw service throughout World War II, including assisting in the invasion of Sicily and joining Eight Fleet in the invasion of Southern France in August 1944. The Staff was awarded 6 battle stars for her actions in World War II. www.history.navy.mil/danfs/s17/staff.htm This is a photograph of the bell after it has been conserved.
