Description 80-G-285143: Normandy Invasion, June 1944. Loebnitz pier off “Omaha” Beach, France. It forms part of the U.S. Mulberry. Large “spuds” of vertical rails on which platforms ride with ebb and flow of tide. It provides simultaneous unloading of both decks of an LST. Photograph released November 7, 1944. U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/03/15).
