Description 80-G-30555: Pearl Harbor Attack, 7 December 1941. Planes and hangars burning at Wheeler Army Air Field, Oahu, soon after it was attacked in the morning of 7 December 1941, as seen from a Japanese Navy plane. Also at NHHC as NH 50473. Translated Japanese caption reads, “The U.S. Hawaiian Air Base at Wheeler Airfield was also reduced to a desolate pile of ashes in a moment under the attack of our Sea Eagles. The hangers on the leeward side were first of all enveloped by heavy bombs and burst in flame. Immediately after, the rows of enemy planes on the airfield were entirely destroyed and set afire by the strafing of our Sea Eagles. (9/22/2015).
