Description 80-G-317356: German U-Boat officers and sailors taken onboard USS Bogue (CVE 9). The original caption states “ it was the last UB sunk by destroyer escorts during World War II.” No U-Boat is specifically mentioned, but the last U-Boat sunk by destroyer escorts known was U-546, April 24, 1945. On that date, U-546 sank USS Frederick C. Davis (DE 136), which are shown in some of the proceeding photographs. Photograph released, April 25, 1945. U.S. Navy photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2017/03/07).
