Description 80-G-465614: President Calvin Coolidge presented the Medal of Honor to Machinist Floyd Bennett as Commander Richard Byrd stands at left, looking on with others. Byrd and Bennett received the Medal of Honor for their courageous expedition to the North Pole and return in May 1926. Secretary of the Navy Curtis Wilber is to the left. Admiral Edward W. Eberle, 3rd Chief of Naval Operations, is to the far right. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, now in the collections of the National Archives. (2016/10/18).
