Summary edit

Description
English: Burning essential oils

Due to the fact that the essential oils are made out of hydrocarbons (mostly aliphatic), most of them will be flammable. Therefore, when an orange peel or the peel of other citrus fruit is squeezed over a flame, it is allowed for the juices from the peel to come in contact with the flame; then, the essential oils ignite and burn.

Performed by the Prof. PhD Miha Bukleski. The planning of the experiment also included the retired Prof. PhD Vladimir Petruševski and the students Mihail Trajkov and Darko Stojčev, Department of Chemistry, FNSM, Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Skopje, Macedonia.
