| Description |
English: Building at 8219 Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia, with date on gable of 1859. This is almost certainly the original Hiram Lodge of the Masons which I've seen listed at 8217 Germantown Ave. (There has been some renumbering on this street since 1687 when the street was first opened! More likely is that buildings sometimes use two addresses such as 8217-19 Germantown Ave. and that 8217 is just the adress of the "Rug Rack" with 8217 being the adress of the other door to the right.) This is part of the Chestnut Hill Historic District on the NRHP. Note that the Hiram Lodge has moved to 8425 Germantown, an 1889 building, but is much older than that building. |
