Title
Women Taking Men's Places in Railroad Shops
Description
Attired in overalls, more than 30 women are doing men's work in the shops of the Baltimore and Ohio railroad, at Glenwood, Pa. Although only a beginning, this encroachment by the fair sex, on a field peculiarly adapted to men, will soon become general, and as more and more of our boys take their places on the firing line in France, fresh additions of our army of women workers will come in the natural course of events, until, in a few years, if the war lasts that long, the male worker will be a curiosity. The photo shows one of the workers and proves that the belief that women are not physically fitted for ardous labor, is a fallacy. #295
