Original Image Name: Piciwiki_israel_91786_20220823_192246.jpg Notes: היישוב הוקם ב-13 בספטמבר 1937 בשם "כפר קופינס" כיישוב חומה ומגדל בעיצומו של המרד הערבי הגדול. את היישוב הקימו שתי אגודות. האחת אגודת "לשדה" של יוצאי יוון שבראשה עמד הרב בן-ציון מאיר חי עוזיאל ובין חבריה נמנו ליאון רקנאטי (הסב), משה קרסו, דוד פלורנטין וברוך עוזיאל והשנייה אגודת בנים לגבולם של יוצאי בולגריה. שטח היישוב כ-1,030 דונמים נרכש על ידי הנוטע והכשרת היישוב מהכפר שופא במחיר של כ-16 לירות ארץ ישראליות לדונם, מחיר שהיה נמוך בהרבה משהוצע לפני פרוץ המרד הערבי הגדול. השטח נמסר לארגון עולי יוון
