Français : Maison de l'Enseigne-du-Patriote, vers 1920
« Mais l’occupant qui marque le plus les lieux est un manufacturier de tabac à priser et de cigares, Alexis Dubord, qui loue la partie est du rez-de-chaussée en 1849 avant d’occuper tout le bâtiment à partir de l’année suivante. Assez tôt, la croissance des affaires de Dubord nécessite plus d’espace et à partir de 1857 l’entreprise loue une maison en arrière du magasin, aujourd’hui le 166-170, rue Saint-Amable. Le magasin et les bureaux sont situés rue Saint-Paul, tandis que la manufacture de tabac se trouve rue Saint-Amable. Cette réorganisation permet toutefois à une partie des étages au-dessus du magasin de servir de logements, surtout pour des membres de la parenté des dirigeants de l’entreprise. Durant les années 1920, sinon avant, l’enseigne de l’entreprise, placée au-dessus de l’entrée, est une statue de bois représentant un habitant en costume traditionnel. Selon Pierre-Georges Roy, cette enseigne serait à l’origine de l’appellation « maison du Patriote ». » – vieux.montreal.qc.ca
