English: A303 Trunk Road near Wylye. This is the A303 Basingstoke to Honiton trunk road looking west towards Chicklade Botton about 3km away, with Stockton Wood on the right. The road is usually very busy with traffic travelling at high speed as there are stretches of single carriageway interspersed with sections of dual carriageway, like here, but there was a fortunate break in the traffic.
The sign marks where the restricted byway that comes from Stockton in the valley of the River Wylye to the north-east crosses the road and continues as a bridleway to Chilmark in the south. The bridleway is not heavily used no doubt because it crosses this busy road. For the view of the road in the opposite direction, see 503371 |
