Description Éphèbe de Kritios. Marbre de Paros, H. conservée : 116,7 cm. Lieu de découverte : Acropole d'Athènes. "En ce qui concerne l'attribution à Critios, bronzier actif à Athènes autour de 480, elle ne repose que sur la vague ressemblance de la tête de ce garçon avec celle du plus jeune des Tyrannoctones et sur deux détails d'exécution qui rappellent la manière des bronziers : les yeux rapportés et les mèches ciselées sur la nuque. [...]Le genoux droit fléchi est nettement plus bas que le genoux de la jambe gauche qui reste tendue. [...]C'est la première apparition de la pondération" (...) Cette jambe fléchie, portée en avant et dont le pied repose entièrement sur le sol, est typique du «style sévère».
