English: This Porsche powered Snow Trac was lost when the ice broke on an Antarctic expedition and it fell through the ice. The 3 people inside the Snow Trac escaped through the roof hatch and onto the ice. The loss of this Snow Trac is detailed in the A.N.A.R.E. club magazine, The Aurora, June 1963, in the article CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE WORST KIND, Three Brushes With Death in the Antarctic. The photo was provided by an A.N.A.R.E. alumnus. |
