Description
English: El Ministerio de Defensa Informa que el rompehielos ARA Almirante Irízar arribó al puerto de Buenos Aires tras concluir la primera etapa de la Campaña Antártica de Verano (CAV) 2018/19, durante la cual brindó apoyo logístico a las actividades científicas en el continente blanco, abasteció a las bases argentinas y efectuó el recambio de personal.

El buque polar, al mando del capitán de navío Maximiliano Mangiaterra, había zarpado el pasado 20 de diciembre con 313 personas a bordo, entre la dotación estable de la unidad, el personal militar en comisión de las tres Fuerzas Armadas, de la Dirección Nacional del Antártico e invitados de instituciones científicas afines; además de las aeronaves de la Segunda Escuadrilla Aeronaval de Helicópteros.

Su regreso a Buenos Aires tiene como fin reabastecerse y comenzar con la segunda etapa de la CAV, coordinada por el Comando Conjunto Antártico (COCOANTAR), dependiente del Estado Mayor Conjunto.
