Last week we took the 128 to the local garage a km or so away to see if it would get a Warrant of Fitness. It didn't, but it only needs three things for one - a headlight bucket, a new L/H ball joint and to fix an oil leak which caused it to piddle oil all over the forecourt as we arrived! Anyway, getting it up on the hoist at the garage enabled us to get a proper look underneath. As you can see it looks about as good as you could ever wish for with a 70s Fiat - remarkably clean and essentially free of major rust. I don't think it has ever been parked in a paddock - it's been parked on our back lawn for the last couple of months, but been moved regularly and the grass is mown often. Oh, and when we drove to and from the garage 3rd and 4th gear could not be reached, but more to come on that... |
