Description Yesterday I took another shot at photographing puffins as part of a tour out of New Harbor a small shore community in Bristol, Maine. The seas were calm, the weather was warm, and the sun was bright so there are no excuses this year. This puffin as a rather large fish in its beak. The Audubon guide on board said that is is not known why they will sometimes float in the water for extended time with a beak full of fish. Very cute birds. They are only about a foot long. They were reintroduced to a tiny rocky island about 30 minutes from the harbor several years ago and are now thriving. The southern most colony of puffins in N America.
