Description
Liu Bang (劉邦), also known as Emperor Gaozu of Han (漢高祖), was originally from Fengyi (豐邑, present-day Fengxian, Jiangsu), but settled in the capital Chang'an (長安) after proclaiming himself emperor. However, his father became nostalgic for their hometown, so Liu Bang had some streets of Chang'an rebuilt to imitate those of Feng and also ordered the residents from the old hometown to move to Chang'an to satisfy his father's longings. This painting depicts the scenery of the newly built Feng city streets.
