| Description |
English: A cold front and sucker's gap. 3/6/07 was a wet day throughout much of Scotland. A stationary cold front stretched north-south through the middle of the country. View of the cumulonimbus clouds along the front from Berwickshire, firmly in the warm sector. Here it was humid and warm, with some convectional rainfall, the forecast for the west was cold and very wet.
There was a bright area with little cloud before the front. This is sometimes called the "sucker's gap" it would tempt pilots up only for them to get into big trouble when they encounter the cumulonimbus clouds. Often there is little warning of an approaching cold front. |
