Summary edit

Description

Zubair is co-founder of Pledge51, a mobile media company in Lagos, who created an unexpectedly succesful app when they made the Nigerian Constitution available for people to download onto their mobile phones. Released after the presidential elections in 2011, the app has so far had around 330,000 downloads, making it Nigeria's most popular download.

"I didn't really know if it would be successful, but something inside kept telling me that this was something I should do, to see if I could get Nigerians more interested in knowing their rights and understand the constitution", says Zubair.

"We're now looking at different versions, translating it into the other languages used in Nigeria, and whether we can apply it to other countries"
