Supposed Figure of Asshur, the tutelary Deity of theaucient Assyrians. From the Monuments. Adranimelech and Sharezer. Very little isknown of this god. He is probably identicalwith Asshur, the supreme deity of the Assyr-ians. (2 Kings xix., 37 ; Isa. xxxvii., 38.) Nitre occurs iu Prov. xxv., 20, and in Jer.ii., 22.
