| Description | Disappointed that we could not explore the interior of the Akhali new Shuamta monastery, I took this long shot of it as we walked back towards our car. Of course, I am not particularly religious, so it did not matter too much that I could not explore the interior, but if the place is so important historically, it would have been nice to explore some of the interior of it, which is actually quite beautiful as I saw on someone's blog. The church is decorated with 16th century fine frescoes depicting the scenes of Christ's life as well as of the Royal Family: King Levan II, Queen Tinatin and their son Georgi.
