Text Appearing Before Image:
T, died ather residence, in Newton Centre, on Wednesday, aged seventy-two years. Mrs. Loring was a very interesting lady, and leaves anumerous circle of relatives and friends, who deplore her suddenremoval from the home which her unselfish nature and sunnyspirit for more than a generation rendered unusually attractive. She took a deep interest in the benevolent and reformatory move-ments of the day ; and the poor and needy, especially the outcast, found in her an ever sympathetic friend and benefactor. Aprominent feature of her life was childlike trust in the wisdomand goodness of her Heavenly Father, and her unwavering confi-dence in a blissful immortality. Mrs. Loring wrote occasionally for the public, both prose andverse, and she infused into her writings the same womanly spiritwhich characterized her honorable and useful life. I take pleasure in inserting two of her many poems.

Margaret Sprague (Smith) Coring. SMITH MEMORIAL. TIME. Time, thou art shadowless—fathomless,Marching with footsteps eternal, Dark with immensity—juestiouless. With weight of record supernal. What bearest thou onward, mystical Time? Who answers the tread of thy step.Who paces beside thee, hardened sublime — With moments whose judgments are kept? Who takest thy records? parchments eternal, Place figures as true as science exact;Down—down to the roots, with pencil immortal. They trace the firm truth with infinite fact. Adjust thou the verdict, oh! mortal immortal, Make record so pure—the cipher so true,That the home of the blessed—infinite portal, Will spring to your greeting open to you. a mothers valentine to her son. You are my Valentine, beloved boy. Across the weary miles Comes surging oer my heart the joy, And on my face the smiles, That you are mine. No other soul Can call you all her own, And never in the Eternal whole Can we two be alone. Joshua Loring was born in Bost
