Nederlands: Het oude stadhuis in Amsterdam ziende van den Nieuwendijk naer de Kalverstraet in den jaren 1640 waer van de Toren, die zich hier stompvertoont, te voren sierlyk gebout en met Spits en Klokkespel verzien was, sedert om zyn zwakheid tot deze gedaente gebragt. De zuidwestzijde van de Dam. In het midden het Oude Stadhuis, links drie huizen aan de Dam en rechts daarvan de Kalverstraat; Dam

Sa Tour, qu'on voit ici, couverte d'un simple chapiteau, avoit ci-devant un beau clocher, avec une belle sonnerie? Mais le fondements se trouver ent trop faible pour en soutenir le Poids
English: The Old State House of Amsterdam, in the year 1640, represented here as when you go from the Niewendyk to the Kalver-street. On the top of it's tower, seen here covered with a carpenter Work, was formerly a fine steeple with a playing of bells, but the foundations were too weak to bear such a weight
