Description

Jayanthan, le fils d'Indra dans une scène du Narakasuravadham.

Jayantha est d'abord séduit par Mohini, la soeur du démon Narakasura transformée en une belle femme. Quand il se rend compte de la supercherie, elle reprend sa forme démoniaque et l'attaque, Jayantha la blesse alors avec son sabre et la chasse.

La morale de la scène est que "le mal est toujours puni" mais on y décèle également un message pour inciter les jeunes à respecter les règles sociales du mariage arrangé par les parents.

Le centre culturel de Cochin a été créé en 1977 pour préserver et promouvoir les formes artistiques traditionnelles du Kerala, dont le théâtre dansé Kathakali.
