Description
Deutsch: Wappen für Caroline und Anna geb. Werndl, Töchter des Großindustriellen Josef Werndl (1831-1889) in Steyr, anläßlich ihrer Erhebung in den österreichischen Adelsstand als "geb. von Werndl" am 8. Jänner 1903. Zeichnung aus den Akten im Österreichischen Staatsarchiv Wien, Allgemeines Verwaltungsarchiv, Adelsarchiv: Adelsakt Werndl 1903. Josef Werndl war am 13. Februar 1870 mit dem Orden der Eisernen Krone III. Klasse ausgezeichnet worden und hatte aufgrund der Ordensstatuten Anspruch auf seine Erhebung in den erblichen Ritterstand, hatte darum jedoch nie angesucht. Erst seine Töchter machten von diesem Privileg Gebrauch, obwohl sie 1903 bereits seit langem mit Adeligen verheiratet waren: Caroline (1859–1923) war in 1. Ehe mit dem Freiherrn Mayer von Mayrau, und nach dessen Tod in 2. Ehe mit Freiherrn Max von Imhof zu Spielberg und Oberschwemmbach (1858-1922) verheiratet, ihre Schwester Anna (1861–1943) war seit 1880 mit Josef Friedrich Grafen von Lamberg-Ortenegg-Ottenstein (1856–1904) verheiratet.
