Se calcula que hay mas de 900 especies de ácaros , son parásitos de plantas Varias especies pueden causar ampollas y agallas, incluyendo erineum agallas.

Algunos son plagas de importancia económica, mientras que otros son útiles como agentes de control biológico de plagas de las plantas invasoras. E el daño a la planta es principalmente estético
