A large climber with milky latex, Leaves,opposite,elliptic, oblong, base obtuse, coriaceous, Flowers 2-2.5cm aross, white, fragrant, in terminal lax corymbose cymes; corolla white with red calyx;5 narrow lanceolate lobes,each with 2 subulate glands at the base,. Corolla 5, salver shaped, lower part short, upper part long, cylindric with bearded longitudinal bands behind anthers, lobes lanceolate, Stamens 5 inserted at the base of upper part of the corolla, anthers sagittate, the cells spurred at the base.disk cupular, ovary of 2 distinct hirsute carpels. ovules many stigma columnar. Reference:Flora of the presidecy of Madras by J.S.Gamble; It is not reported in the flora of Nellore district by B.Suryanarayana & A.S.Rao. |
