| Description |
English: Aldrington Basin Viewed from Kingsway with Hove Enterprise Centre in the foreground. The basin is the eastern end of The Canal which is part of Shoreham Harbour. The waterway was once the River Adur whose mouth was deflected eastwards by longshore drift to Hove until a new one was cut first in the late 18th century and again permanently in 1817. During the 1850s the section between the new mouth and here was dredged and canalized to form the current harbour. |
