Description
Čeština: Mikoláš Aleš: Žalov. Závěrečný obraz z 12 lunet cyklu Vlast, který byl určen pro výzdobu interiéru Národního divadla. Na tomto obraze bohyně Morana posílá hrdinu na věčnost. Obrazy Aleš tvořil v době pobytu na Brandejsově statku v Suchdole, od nějž není daleko tehdejší obec s názvem Žalov. V Alšem užité mytologii se Žalov nazývá místo, kde spí věčným spánkem všichni hrdinové. Obecně se předpokládá, že obraz skutečně zobrazuje krajinu v okolí Žalova ([1]).
