Summary edit

Description Aleurites rockinghamensis. Enormous tree, no way I could fit it in my viewer. It gives so much shade, and lots of these hard ball-fruits on the ground. I managed to get fruit AND flowers of this tree in the frame! (typical tropical - all seasons at once). The fruit of this plant were used as candles by early settlers, hence its common name Candle Nut (info from bellingen1 photo). Native to NE QLD Australia and to New Guinea. Location: Mt. Coot-tha Botanical Gardens (near Dome), Brisbane, Australia
