Description
English: Memorial erected to commemorate the invention of the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell, in Brantford, Ontario, in 1874. The Governor General of Canada, Victor Cavendish, 9th Duke of Devonshire, unveiled the Bell Telephone Memorial erected in Bell's honor in Brantford, Ontario's, (The Telephone City) Alexander Graham Bell Gardens grounds as part of the City of Brantford's public parks system. The Bell Homestead was also dedicated at the same time (1917). Bell was the guest of honor at the ceremony. The memorial was commissioned to sculptor W.S. Allward in 1912, and completed in 1917, and paid for by public subscription.
