| Description |
English: Contagious cancers are spread by the direct transmission of cancer cells from one animal to another. They are currently common in marine bivalves (left) although they are also reported in mammals (right). There are cases in which cancer has been transmitted between different species and species in which several lineages of contagious cancer have originated.
Español: Los cánceres contagiosos se transmiten por la transmisión directa de células cancerosas de un animal a otro. Actualmente son frecuentes en bivalvos marinos (izquierda) aunque también hay reportados casos en mamíferos (derecha). Existen casos en que el cáncer se ha transmitido entre especies diferentes y especies en las que se han originado varios linajes de cáncer contagioso.
Français : Les cancers contagieux se propagent par transmission directe de cellules cancéreuses d’un animal à un autre.
