Two-third of my way through a 2-week road trip, I left Vancouver and re-entered US for the final stretch back to Los Angeles. And my first stateside stop is the Boeing widebody aircraft assembly plant in Everett, 30 minutes north of Seattle, where I can take a tour (absolutely no photos allowed) and also do planespotting. Dozens of 747-8s and 787s around (plus another 787 not visible - N20904, United Airlines' first 787, in the paint shop).

All Nippon Airways was the launch customer of the Boeing 787, and while it already is flying ten in service as of the date of this photo (27 July 2012), several more are still sitting here at Paine Field, awaiting modification before delivery to ANA. Indeed, modifications are delaying deliveries of many 787s - while 72 have been completed as of this date, only 14 have been delivered (the other four going to Japan Airlines).

Starting with the 787, Boeing no longer uses its customer codes for its aircraft models. That means this aircraft is simply a 787-8, as opposed to being a 787-881 (the 81 being ANA's customer code).
