  • Significance: The Allegheny Locks were among the few canal-related structures surviving in Pittsburgh. The locks are near the western terminus of the Pennsylvania Canal which has been determined to be of national significance by the Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission for its role in the history of American transportation.
