Summary edit

Description Typical alpine vegetation in Kosciuszko National Park. At altitudes above 1800 metres, it is too cold for trees to grow and the short, cool summers allow even grass to only grow to fairly low heights. Despite it being a hot summer's day (32 C / 90 F) in Canberra and other nearby towns, up here it was decidedly chilly - around 15 C / 60 F.
