English: U.S. Marines with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit prepare for an amphibious assault with a rehearsal of concept drill during Certification Exercise (CERTEX) aboard the USS Essex (LHD 2) off the coast of San Diego April 18, 2015. The amphibious assault is the last large-scale event of CERTEX. The assault involves all three ships of the Essex Amphibious Ready Group – USS Essex, USS Anchorage (LPD 23) and USS Rushmore (LSD 47) – and hundreds of Marines for beach landing on Camp Pendleton, Calif.
