gave no great troublewith overheating of the mass. The quantity of ash andclinker were not sufficient to require cleaning out duringperiod of eacli 12 hours test with this fuel. Steam pressurewas not always up to standard, but the proportion of time theboiler required aiding was small compared with the previousfuels tested, as will be seen. It would seem to have been shown by the tists that the pro-ducer as constructed (blue print of arrangement of which ac-companies report) was not large enough to supply this sizeboiler. On completion of tests with gas producer, it was disconnect-ed and the regular grates placed in tire-box of boilers. Aseries of tests was then made with same fuels burned in usualmanner. The figures shown in attached tabulated statementare totals and averages of three tests with eacli fuel and methodof combustion, a total of 36 tests having been made.
