ERING JOURNAL. 461 This engine has the vacuum brake, and is fitted withCreshani iV 1 lolts steam-sanding apparatus. The boileris fed by two Gresham injectors. The total weight of the engine in working order is103.040 lbs., of which 71,792 lbs. are carried 011 the fourdrivers and 31,248 lbs. on the truck. The tank will carry 3,oSo gallons of water. The tenderis carried on six 45-in. wheels, anil weighs 78,400 lbs.,with a full load of water and coal. A STANDARD BOX CAR. The accompanying drawings show the standard furni-ture and buggy car of the Missouri Pacific Railroad,which, being intended for light and bulky freight, is ofsomewhat greater size than the ordinary box and grain carof the road. Fig, I is a longitudinal view, one-half in side brought to conform with the standard types which havebeen adopted. These cars were designed under the supervision of Mr.Frank Rearden, Superintendent of the Locomotive andCar Department, They are a very good example of recentpractise in car building.
