Nederlands: Amsterdam – Damrak – Herinnering aan Amsterdam, 1922. Ansichtkaart.
Oorspronkelijk was het Damrak het deel van de rivier de Amstel tussen de Dam en het iJ. (Een 'rak' is een recht stuk vaart). Via een sluis bij de Dam stroomde de rivier vanuit het Rokin in het Damrak en mondde vervolgens uit in het IJ.
Français : Damrak : l'artère qu'une personne lambda ne peut éviter de prendre sans bien s'en rendre compte en arrivant à Amsterdam par le train ; elle se dirige dès lors vers le Dam, longeant les boutiques "souvenir d' "A Dam". Damrak était à l'origine une partie de la rivière Amstel située entre la place du Dam et l'IJ, canal passant derrière la gare central. Voir :fr:Damrak.
Le "De Bijenkorf" grand magasin bien visible sur la droite devait avoir été construit depuis peu, même s'il existait sans doute sous une autre forme dès 1878. voir : "Autres versions" & fr:De Bijenkorf. It is the main street where people arriving at the station, enter to the centre of Amsterdam.
