Ringworm of the scalpbears the closest resemblance, but inthis latter affection the patches are notsmooth and glistening, but are coveredwith grayish scales, and scattered overthe surface are to be seen the stumps of broken-off hairs ; besides, if any doubtarise, the microscope will soon settle the question. Treatment.—There is do special internal treatment beyond attention toanv obvious defects of the general health. In rebellious cases -mall dos<arsenic mighl be tried. Locally, the demand is for thorough and persistentstimulation. The following, briskly rubbed in twice a day, is useful: K . A.cidi Balicylic Bj. Sulphuris praecipitati .-j. Vaselini 5J. Olei rosse q. s.—M. Equal parts of tincture of cantharides and glycerin serve an equally good purpose. Pilocarpine in ointment or the fluid extract of jaborandi in lotion may be advised. Galvanic stimulation with a metallic brush (negative pole) isalso to he recommended. In obstinate cases blistering limited regions at atime with cantharidal collodion gives excellent results.
