Description
English: ID Number: E01882

Place made: France: Nord Pas de Calais, Pas de Calais, Savy
An accident on Savy Aerodrome during the German offensive. A powerful factor in weakening the German thrust across the old Somme battlefield was the continuous bombing by British aircraft.
Both Nos 2 and 4 Australian Squadrons were engaged in this, the machines bombing the enemy, returning for further bombs, and then starting again as fast as they could be loaded. No. 2 Squadron was at Savy.
Seen here is an accident on the ground. (Serial No. C9539, V, of C Flight No. 2 Squadron). Left to right: Lieutenant G. R. E. Brettingham-Moore; Captain (Capt) R. W. McKenzie MC; Air Mechanic Second Class (2nd AM) A. Primrose; Sergeant P. F. Clemens; Corporal (Cpl) L. Dunnet; 2nd AM P. Gaffney; 2nd AM J. Matthews; 6 Cpl C. E. Wardell; Cpl W. B. Campbell MM.
