| Description |
Français : Sur les hauts remparts de la ville, le prince-évêque Armand-Gaston de Rohan-Soubise décida de créer un nouvel édifice à deux pas de ses châteaux : la chancellerie. Elle avait pour but de gérer toutes les affaires administratives et juridiques de son important évêché. Une fois la révolution passée, le bâtiment devint tribunal de grande instance. Un second tribunal naquit entre châteaux et ce bâtiment également pour traiter des plus petites affaires (tribunal d'instance). De nombreuses réformes politiques redécoupant la carte des juridictions furent à deux doigts de faire sauter cette juridiction multiséculaire. Mais l'institution tint bon et maintenant encore, ce tribunal rend de nombreux jugements faisant les gros titres de la presse locale.
