| Description | At the intersection of the Kali Gandaki gorge and the Panda Khola gorge, we saw our first cave dwellings (troglodyte habitations) carved in the cliff faces. The caves were dug between 20 to 50 meters above the river bed (which was likely not the case when they were dug). These are ancient settlement sites in the region. The caves have been occupied from 9th century B.C. up to the 17th century A.D. We will see many more while walking through Upper Mustang and even visit some. |
