- Sul colle che accolse i primi abitatori di Ancona, accanto alla vetusta cattedrale di San Ciriaco, qui sorgeva l'antico fastoso episcopio che ospitò pontefici e principi. Vi morì il 14 agosto 1464 Pio II venuto in Ancona per preparar la crociata. Fu distrutto da aereo bombardamento durante la seconda guerra mondiale. - Il comune a ricordo pose nel 1956.
