I don't know who the original "author" of the image was but he's dead by now. I cleaned the original image that had discoloration. Father Angelo Secchi was a close friend of Matthew Fontaine Maury. Father Secchi came to the U.S.A. National Observatory (now Navy Observatory) and studied under the superintendent, M. F. Maury, and remained in contact for many years.
