CAMP ZAMA, Japan – Soldiers, civilians and family members gathered at the foyer of United States Army Japan (USARJ)'s headquarters building in Camp Zama, Japan, to bid farewell to Army Staff Sgt. Randy L. Gibbs and his family during a retirement ceremony conducted Jan. 29, 2016. A native of Stover, Missouri, Gibbs entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1996. After 12 years of excelling in several major assignments to include a tactical field administrator to Regimental Combat Team 1 during the Battle of Nasiriyah, Iraq, in 2003, Gibbs enlisted in the U.S. Army with no break in military service. His assignments as an Army noncommissioned officer included key intelligence positions at Army Central Command as well as two rotations to Qatar for Operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom. Gibbs concluded his military career as an intelligence analyst for USARJ's deputy chief of staff for intelligence. Gibbs and his wife, Ayako, will move to Tampa, Florida, where they will continue to care and nurture their three children, Hinata, Serena and Sora. Photos by Sgt. John L.
