d in the college chapel. These meetings are led bysome member of the Faculty, and are attended by all the stu-dents and young people of the church. There are special ad-vantages in the students spiritual life to be gained in such re-ligious association together, and the Faculty regard illness asthe only ground for failure to attend regularly. Before the preaching service, on Sabbath morning, allnon-resident students assemble in the college Sabbalh schoolfor systematic study of the Bible. These lessons are veryinteresting and instructive, and should not be missed except forunavoidable reasons. The Students Christian Association is a society organizedfor the study of home and foreign missions, health and tem-perance, and religious liberty topics. The meetings are heldregularly every Wednesday afternoon, and are very generallyattended by the students and others. A copy of the constitutionof this society is furnished to every student upon entrance, andall are urged to join in the studies.

HEALDSBURG COLLEGE. 19 As a further means of cultivating religious thought andhabit, general worship is held morning and evening in the Stu-dents Home. The Home program also makes provision fora period of twenty minutes each day when each student maybe absolutely alone in his room for private meditation anddevotion. The daily work at the College is opened with the usualchapel exercises, led by the President, and talks are frequentlygiven by members of the Faculty on moral and religious sub-jects. Religious thought and practice are inculcated inall the daily duties, not as a formal routine exercise, but in thebelief that religion is nothing if not practical, and that it notonly ministers to the highest personal development, but con-fers also the highest and purest form of personal satisfaction.None are invited to become members of the school who arenot willing heartily to conform to the expectations of the man-agement in these matters.
